When asked for his comments on our Secure Surgery Website Package, Dave Mills of Donnington Health Centre provided us with something totally unexpected and a little different. It’s rather good and made us smile so we would like to share it with you:
Once upon a time in the distant past
‘Do you have a website?’ a patient asked
As IT manager I considered a while over my reply
Our website at the time just made me want to cry
With its outdated looks
and and content from years before
I’m not at all surprised that our patients wanted more
So I made a decision that a new solution was on the menu
And after searching through the internet it was Wiggly Amps to the rescue!
I made a quick call to their Norfolkshire base
and within a couple of days a draft site was in place
It was so close to perfect it was really surreal
But with just one thing missing I started to feel
So I rang them and straight down the phone I did blurt
“Our patients give us numbers so we can send them a text alert”
“I would be really greatful if you could help us please”
“And add a form to the site so they can send us their numbers with ease”.
A day or two later in my inbox I did spy
An email from Vicky with a positive reply
“Thats a great idea, here are the buttons for which you asked
The form will be complete tommorow” at their speed I was aghast!
Now our site is up and running
The patients think it’s all sublime

Yes, it’s true. Apparently our Little Green Button Panic Alarm Software played its part in the unexpected arrival of a baby boy at The Deepings Practice in Market Deeping, Peterborough. The practice had been trialling the software when the lady who actually was not a patient called in on her way to the maternity unit, when she realised she wasn’t going to make it in time! The practice have now purchased the software as were pleased with the effectiveness for relatively little cost.
We would like to offer our congratulations to all involved and our very best wishes to Mother and baby!

Following a string of new exploits against IE6, CfH have finally advised that all sites move to IE7.
“It is … further recommended that organisations still using Internet Explorer 6 on the affected platforms upgrade to Internet Explorer 7. ”
“Internet Explorer 7 has been warranted to work correctly with Spine applications such as the Clinical Spine Application and provides additional security features over Internet Explorer 6.”
We welcome this decision (although IE8 would be better!) as it’ll give users of our NHS web applications a faster, safer experience.
